The Norwegian Ceramic Society (NKS) takes care of common
interests of the Norwegian ceramic industry.
OBJECTIVES
- To exchange ideas and experience between the members and their companies
on technical, economical and social issues
- To promote ceramic research and education
- To have contact with other relevant Norwegian and foreign organisations
NKS has presently about 40 members, equally devided between corporate and
personal members. NKS was established in 1961 and is a member of the European
Ceramic Society.

ACTIVITIES
- Fall meeting. This usually includes an annual course (2 days) on some
specific theme, together with the annual meeting and dinner.
CERAMICS R&D IN NORWAY
- The main part of contract R&D on ceramics in Norway
is carried out by SINTEF Materials and chemistry
CERAMICS EDUCATION IN NORWAY
- Department of materials science and engineering, NTNU: University
level education in ceramic technology. Courses up to Ph.
D. level are offered.
- Department of Chemistry, University of Oslo: Offers
education up to Ph. D. level in areas related to advanced
ceramics.
